One of New Zealand’s great walks

Time: 7 hours full track (requires transfers)

Grade: Moderate to Difficult

The Tongariro National Park is New Zealand’s oldest national park and a dual World Heritage Site. It is rich in both cultural history and superb natural volcanic scenery. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is described as one of New Zealands best one day hikes. Seeing the major volcanic peaks of Ngauruhoe, Tongariro and Ruapehu ensure the Tongariro Alpine Crossing is considered a world-renowned track. The full 19.4km track requires transport to and from a local licensed operator or you can park in the car park for 4 hours if you are only going part of the way. Take warm weather gear as the weather changes quickly. The walk now has New Zealand Great Walks status.
