Explore swing bridges, alpine lakes, streams and glaciers

Time: 3 – 4 hours return

Grade: Easy

The scenery can only be described as awe-inspiring with the track winding up the Hooker Valley through the scared Topuni area. The track crosses several swing bridges, past Alpine lakes, streams and glaciers at the base of Aoraki/Mt Cook a peak over 3000m in height. The track winds up the alpine meadows where you can spot the Mt Cook buttercup/kopukupuku – which is the worlds largest. The track ends with amazing views over the ice filled Hooker Lake. It’s said the best time to walk the track is early in the morning to get the first rays on sunshine over the countries tallest peaks.
